Fishy Awards:
Don’t forget to join us for a special episode of The Tiffany Granath Show on Friday, Dec 31, New Year’s Eve day, for the Fishy Awards!!! The Fishbowl will be making mention of some favorite calls and replaying fun flashbacks from 2010. It will be great fun and hope you can all spend New Year’s Eve day with us, before you go par-tay!!!
My Store:
Make sure to visit my store for the new personalized jewelry. I recently posed for candid pics wearing a couple of different necklaces. They aren’t my typical jizzed-up shots as I normally like to roll — they are just the every day Tiff, but with ginormous ninny goats while sporting a bra!!
sTrEsS:
Although there is so much to be thankful for, I think it is safe to say that this last year has been stressful for many of us. Times are tough all over. The world is just crazy right now. I know I have experienced more life challenges this year than usual … it’s sooo exhausting!!
The holiday season can add even more stress, if we’re not careful. As I have been watching my favorite holiday TV classics, it seems like the stresses of life can be like the Grinch trying to steal our enjoyment and meaning in life. We are like the Whos in Who-ville … having to figure out how to deal with unexpected events and demands in our lives.
Stress basically happens when our bodies get overwhelmed by life’s pressures. Some stress can affect our bodies in a good way, like my mom used to tell me before a dance competition. We can use it to get more energy and focus. And stress can even result from positive events like a new relationship or new child, etc.
Grinchly pressures can steal moments from us … from mild irritations to the demands of everyday life. Then there are the even more serious grinchers that come our way. I know that many of us Whos in our radio family have experienced some life events this last year that cause “off-the-hook” stress, such as:
- Death of family or friends
- Divorce or marital struggles
- Financial problems
- Job changes or loss
- Sexual difficulties
- Health issues
How do we continue to breathe, believe and receive when it is difficult to simply breathe at times?? These grinchyfied events can come at us like waves … just when we get back on our feet, another breaker comes to knock us down again.
If stress can have such an effect on us as individuals, imagine what it does to relationships!!! How we respond to the grinch showing up is really different for everyone. So, the way one person responds can cause even more stress for the other person, and vice versa. Communication becomes more of a challenge when both people are at their wit’s end.
In some ways, we have no other choice than to just keep on dealing, but I don’t want to just survive … I want to live life to the fullest and not let precious moments of my life be stolen by stress.
There are many ways they tell us to manage stress. Some of my favorites are to try to relax and breathe deeply, find the humor in life and do things we consider fun, like my mindless TV shows. There are also the tips to control only what we can and let go of the rest, and also to try to rid our life of unnecessary pressures, wherever possible.
I wanted to put out another suggestion that I have started learning from my latest favorite book, Awareness, by Anthony de Mello. He talks a lot about how we tend to sleepwalk through life, like robots. He suggests in order to wake up and mysteriously get a clearer perspective on what is real, we step back and observe ourselves as if we are objectively watching someone else, like a mouse in our own pocket. The tricky part is to watch without judging ourselves in any way or trying to change.
We just stay alert … pay attention to which grinchers cause us stress, how we feel and react, what happens within us and around us … always watching without an opinion or judgment about any of it. We constantly observe as we go on with our daily lives …
Ever wonder how the Whos in Who-ville managed to not let the Grinch get them down? This isn’t the same as being able to ‘wing-a-ding’ a little song for you over the radio (and drive Marie crazy), but I wanted to share some clues from the song they sang after the Grinch thought he had stolen their joy:
“Fah who dingwing! Dah who wingding!
Welcome, welcome!! Ding who wing!!
Welcome Christmas, while we stand,
Heart to heart and hand in hand!!!
Welcome, welcome!! Fah who dingding!!
Welcome, welcome!! Dah who wingwing!!
Christmas Day will always be!
Just as long AS WE HAVE WE!”
That’s how I feel about all of you!! We get each other through life as long as we have we!! It makes me so happy to know that we have each other to care, support and even call each other out … I know you all have my back and I am always there with and for you.
Final Thoughts:
When it comes right down to it, all we have is each other … we are what is really important. So, more than ever, be good to each other!!!!
Happy holidays and a fantabulous New Year!!!
